American drugmaker Johnson and Johnson has put its coronavirus vaccine trial on hold due to what it said was an "unexplained illness" in a participant.
The company said that it is unclear if the patient one of the 60-thousand taking part in the trial had been given a placebo or the actual vaccine.
Johnson and Johnson said it's not uncommon to pause a late-stage trial, and it plans to resume the trial after a "careful review."
Another company working on a vaccine, AstraZeneca, had to pause its clinical trial for a second time last month due to a reported adverse reaction.
