North Korea test-fired two projectiles from its super-large multiple rocket launcher on Oct. 31, a day after North Korean leader Kim Jong-un sent his condolences over the death of President Moon Jae-in’s mother. U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo downplayed the significance of the latest firing, saying it’s consistent with what the North has done before. According to a report released by the U.S. State Department, the U.S. placed a record number of unilateral sanctions on North Korea in 2018, when bilateral relations improved dramatically.
