Peace and Prosperity Ep.24
▶ Will China be North Korea's "new path"?

China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi made a three-day trip to Pyeongyang, raising speculation that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un could visit China next month near the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between North Korea and China. History shows that Kim tends to visit Beijing ahead of the restart of negotiations with the U.S. How will Wang's trip to Pyeongyang and closer ties between North Korea and China affect future working-level talks between North Korea and the U.S.? Meanwhile, yeongyang and Washington have been exchanging increasingly fierce rhetoric to blame each other for the stall in negotiations. Will China help North Korea and the U.S. bridge their differences and make progress in nuclear talks?
To break down the latest developments, we are joined by Choo Jae-woo, Professor of Political Science and Diplomacy at Kyung Hee University in the studio. We also connect with guest experts to broaden the perspective, including Steve Chung, Assistant Lecturer at the Chinese University of Hong Kong specializing in Korean Peninsula issues and Bruce Klingner, Senior Research Fellow at the Heritage Foundation.
